When I first got engaged two years ago, I immediately started planning the wedding. Even though I had only finished my first year of university, and we weren’t going to get married until after I had my degree, I was so excited to get started. That is, until I flipped open my first copy of The Knot and saw the unbelievable expectations for a modern wedding. The checklist items in the front of the magazine included “hire your calligrapher.” What?
